Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 11, 2026

This policy explains what data Stockcast collects from your Shopify store, how it is used, and your rights as a merchant. By installing Stockcast, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Who We Are

Stockcast is an inventory management application developed and operated by Merqio. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” in this policy refer to Merqio. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at support@merqio.app.

2. Information We Collect

When you install Stockcast, we access and store the following data from your Shopify store:

  • Store information — shop domain, currency, and timezone
  • Products and variants — titles, SKUs, and product identifiers
  • Inventory items and levels — stock quantities across your locations
  • Locations — names and identifiers for your fulfillment locations
  • Orders and order line items — quantities sold, used to compute demand forecasts. We do not store customer names, addresses, or payment information.

We also store data you create directly in the app:

  • Suppliers (name, email, lead time, contact details)
  • Purchase orders and line items
  • Stock transfers and line items
  • Reorder rules
  • Notification recipients (email addresses you provide)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the data described above solely to provide and improve Stockcast features:

  • Computing demand forecasts, safety stock calculations, and reorder suggestions
  • Tracking purchase orders and stock transfers
  • Sending email notifications for low stock, purchase order events, and weekly inventory digests
  • Generating AI-powered weekly inventory summaries (see Section 4)
  • Adjusting inventory quantities in your Shopify store when you submit changes through the app

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to operating the app.

4. Third-Party Services

Stockcast uses the following third-party services to operate:

  • Gadget.dev — our backend infrastructure and database provider. Your store data is stored on Gadget’s platform. See Gadget’s Privacy Policy.
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — used to generate weekly AI inventory digest emails. A summarized, anonymized snapshot of your forecast data (product names, stock counts, reorder quantities) is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate the narrative. No customer data is included. See Anthropic’s Privacy Policy.
  • Shopify — as a Shopify app, we operate under the Shopify Partner Program Agreement and Shopify’s data governance requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any other third parties.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as Stockcast is installed on your store. If you uninstall the app, we will delete your store’s data within 30 days, in accordance with Shopify’s GDPR requirements.

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at support@merqio.app.

6. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on Gadget’s platform, which uses industry-standard security practices including encryption at rest and in transit. Access to your store’s data is restricted to authenticated sessions using Shopify’s OAuth flow.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about your store
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your store’s data
  • Portability — request an export of your data (available via the CSV export feature in the app)

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@merqio.app. We will respond within 30 days.

8. GDPR and CCPA Compliance

Stockcast complies with Shopify’s mandatory GDPR webhooks. When Shopify notifies us of a customer or shop data erasure request, we process and honor that request within the required timeframe.

Stockcast does not collect or store end-customer personal data (names, emails, addresses). Order data used for forecasting is aggregated by product variant and does not include any personally identifiable customer information.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
